Piece from the Pathways & Precipices ~ An Artist’s Return to Awe and Wonder Series inspired by experiences and transformations from Bandelier National Monument Artist Residency for month of November 2022.

I was exploring the Juniper campgrounds on the mesa and encountered a herd of mule deer there. I encountered them several times during my stay both on the mesa, in the canyon amongst the ruins, and very near my casita and the Visitors Center. This painting captures how I was struck by the intense lighting and the subtle monochromatic hues of beige, sage, and violet.
