This painting was inspired by an “Ambassador” of the Virginia Wildlife Center, Ruby, a red-tailed hawk which lost an eye and could not be released back into the wild.  I had the privilege of visiting with Ruby and taking some fabulous reference photos of her!  “Incoming” is dedicated to Ruby and her memories of freedom…
