Piece from the Pathways & Precipices ~ An Artist’s Return to Awe and Wonder Series inspired by experiences and transformations from Bandelier National Monument Artist Residency for month of November 2022.

The flocks of wild turkey roamed in this then as they do now. The Long House has two petroglyphs of turkey still visible today, in fact, the Bandelier National Monument is based on them. In this piece I retained the reflective spots within the pecked-out areas of the petroglyph depicted in the background to provide our current reflection in this ancient carving. The Tom turkey is based on a photograph I took when this handsome fellow was sighted in my backyard.
