Piece from the Pathways & Precipices ~ An Artist’s Return to Awe and Wonder Series inspired by experiences and transformations from Bandelier National Monument Artist Residency for month of November 2022.

The Frey Trail was named for Evelyn and George Frey who hosted visitors to the canyon. Visitors and goods would be transported down the half mile trail of switchbacks down the north wall of the canyon. The views from each switchback provided new perspectives of the canyon at every turn. I was struck by the glow of the reflected afternoon light on the trail. It took several attempts for me to make it all the way up from canyon floor to mesa and was thrilled when I finally did. The reflections subtly highlight the path in the foreground.
