This painting has a lot of collaged elements in addition to the multiple layers of acrylic gel and paint. The branches and the hummingbird’s body in particular. I really enjoyed the “push and pull” of painting the foliage on multiple layers as well. Although small, hummingbirds have a “mighty” presence of personality and action so I tend to paint them large!
